Alan Franks and Patty Veta

Alan Franks and Patty Veta

Alan Franks has been described as the modern Sydney Carter, the man who wrote The Lord of the Dance. His songs, sung by Patty Vetta and himself, are a rich mixture of narrative, humour and blues. Their poetic lyrics, soaring tunes and rich harmonies have brought high praise from reviewers and musicians of all kinds.
The late Jake Thackray, with whom they played, said:
“Franks’s songs are wonderful, complex, true, addictive things. I wish I could write and think and play like him, and sing like Patty Vetta.”
Franks has written award-winning poetry, plays and fiction. His latest collection of short novels, ‘Going Over’ has just been published by Muswell Press.
Vetta has had a long and varied career as a professional singer, working with Johnny Cash and the Everly Brothers, and being a member of the Settlers group.
